*** NO SOLO TRAVELLER SUPPLEMENT *** Come join our 2024 five night cooking classes & workshop tour and over your stay we will take you on an immersive culinary adventure using Chatham Island ingredients. This seafood experience includes guided tours to locations of historical interest.

This year, Martin Bosley, one of New Zealand’s finest chefs leads will over two days, have you honing your culinary skills.

This is a culinary adventure where we combine bush, shoreline walks with interactive food discovery sessions.

Cooking Classes & Workshops

Thursday 5th September: Today we board our flight to Chatham Islands from Wellington at 1.00pm, arriving Chatham Islands around 3.30pm We are met on arrival and transferred to our accommodation. Tonight we enjoy the hotel’s traditional welcoming seafood dinner!!

Friday 6th September: Today we enjoy a truely unique paua experience and beautiful Coastal Walk from Port Hutt to the headland – here we see paua in it’s natural state and while sitting on the rocks, you’ll enjoy fresh raw paua that has been personally gathered.

For lunch, we head to Admiral Gardens where the Hotel Chatham’s chefs will take you through how they cook their gorgeously tasty blue cod curry with naan – sit down for lunch and enjoy what you’ve prepared with a glass of wine.

Saturday 7th & 8th September:

Over the next two days, you’ll be under the tutorage of Martin held at Kopi Bush Retreat – this is a daring and off the grid house was featured on New Zealand’s Grand Design.  Your hosts who built this stunning home are John & Bridget Preece

Saturday – led by Martin you will enjoy a hands on cooking workshop to create from scratch your very own beautiful Chatham Island seafood (late) lunch (think crayfish, paua and blue cod).

Martin will have you honing your dicing and slicing culinary skills.

Sunday – Martin and you will prepare one of his amazing seafood dishes – afterwards sit down, enjoy lunch over a glass of wine and chat about your unique Chatham Island experience.

Monday 9th September – today, it’s all about pizza. Roll your sleeves up as you’ll be making your pizza base from scratch and topping with fresh Chatham Island seafood. This is going to be a rather big lunch today!

Tuesday 10th September: After a rather early breakfast it’s time to head to the airport at 7.00am to board our flight to Wellington which lands around 10.00am.

Don’t forget to use your Cooking Classes & Workshops notebook to take notes and to keep your clothes clean your own apron which has a pocket for your notebook and pen.

Note: Depending upon weather, the order of activity for Friday and Monday may vary.

Dates & Information

If you are flying to or from Wellington to connect with your Air Chatham flights, please ensure you book flexible airfares as adverse weather conditions can alter Air Chatham’s flight departure times out of both Wellington and Chatham Island.

  • Thursday 5th September – Wellington/Chatham Island – flight departs 1.00pm and we check around 11.30am
  • Tuesday 10th September – Chatham Island/Wellington – flight departs at 8.30am landing Wellington around 10.00am. If you are flying on from here, please book your onward flight after mididay.

Choose your room

$4,500 per person – ground floor single room, single bed, shared bathrooms and showers, Sky TV
$4,900 per person – ground floor Bayview room with ensuite, king or two single beds, Sky TV and tea making facility, door opening out to deck.
$5,200 per person – first floor Seaview Executive Suite, super king or two king single beds, ensuite with shower, lounge area, Sky TV, mini bar and tea making facility

Booking, cancellation & refunds

  • A $500 deposit secures your place – once we receive your deposit, we will allocate your room
  • If you choose to cancel your booking, your deposit is non-refundable unless we fill your place
  • If we have to cancel we will give you a full refund or you can have your deposit transferred to any of our other events
  • Full payment is due 6 weeks prior to the commencement date and is thereafter non-refundable in the event of your choosing to cancel, unless we are able to re-fill your place – a $250 administration fee applies
